What Causes Heavy And Painful Menstruation?

3 weeks ago while putting a futon cover on a mattress, I suddenly got a pain in the lower left back, which hurt if I moved a certain way, like a pinched nerve. So I took a couple day s off to rest, using a heating pad, but, over time, the pain traveled up to the rhomboids, to the front of the stomach, pelvic, groin and thigh areas. However, a week prior to the pain, I treated myself to a full body massage, along with mineral bath s and dry sauna, which ended up drying my skin out, and break out in rashes, (mainly on my legs, and a few on my arms and back). So, I figured was dehydrated, and that part of my problem was constipation, so I adjusted my diet, and started drinking more water, and water with baking soda, and water with lemon, and water with molasses, olive oil with lemon, etc. to help with my symptoms. After a week, this started to help with the constipation, and some of the pain and bloating. Then yesterday, after 4 months, I started my period with a very heavy, and constant flow, with intense cramping, and still not pain free.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

You need an ultrasound of your abdomen and checking of your hormonal levels including thyroid.
There are multiple causes of heavy and painful and irregular bleeding like birth control pills, hormonal therapy, endometriosis, pelvic infection, ovarian cysts, PCOD etc. Each condition is treated as per protocol.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. AJEET SINGH, General & Family Physician
