What Causes Heavy Bleeding With Pains Years After Fitting Mirena Coil?

I have had a merina coil for the past 3 years now, with no problems, my periods stopped altogether after a few months of fiting it. However just recently I have been experiancing some terrible pains and I have now started to bleed quite heavily. Should I be concerned?
