What Causes Heavy Inter Menstrual Vaginal Bleeding?

hi dr. I m 47. in february i was heavily bleeding (vaginally) for 2 weeks. This started 1 week before my period even I was on birth control pills. I saw doctor and undergo different tests. They found 6 uterus fibroids. I get of pills and planned uteral ablation. But my periods get normal and every 4 weeks in time. This month I m 10 days later. I did pregnancy tests twice and they are negative. Is it menopause starts or I should see doctor to make sure I m not pregnant? Thanks.

Hello,
Thank you for trusting HCM

Given your age, history of irregular cycles and now absent menstruation, menopause is the likely cause. However, menopause can be confirmed only when you have had absent periods for 12 months, So please continue the hormonal contraceptives for atleast 12 months after your last period. Also, please be advised to follow up with your gynecologist to assess the need for removing the fibroids.

Hope this answers your questions
Please let me know if you need further clarifications
