What Causes Heavy Menstrual Bleeding?

I have been bleeding for 18 days straight with horrible cramps and a bloated stomach. This is the second month in a row that this has happened and last month it lasted 21 days. I am not on birth control, get enough vitamins, and I am still bleeding heavily. What could it be?

Hi I think you should go for evaluation first. Get a thyroid profile and prolactin level and a ultrasound done to see uterus and ovaries to find out the cause of prolonged bleeding. If anything is abnormal, it can be treated. You can take some medicines like tranexamic acid to stop the bleeding. You may need some hormonal treatment. Consult a gynecologist. Hope it helps.
