What Causes Heavy Menstrual Flow?

I had a heavy menstrual flow 1 month ago but my hemoglobin level is still only around 9.0. Should it be higher than that by now? I have chronic health conditions as well and am taking the drug Enbrel. I'm concerned because of the warnings of possible lymphoma when taking it.
