What Causes Heavy Menstruation After Taking Birth Control Pills?

Hi, I haven t had my period in almost a year. I starter birth control again and my period started. It s super heavy where I have to change my overnight sanitary napkin every 4 hours or so. I also have bad cramping, extreme exhaustion and mood swings, and constantly having to go to the bathroom where my stool is green. Is this normal?

Hi, I think after 1 year, if periods comes after taking birth control pills, it will be heavy due to thick endometrium. You can take some medicines like Tranexamic acid to stop the bleeding. If it doesn't work, then you can use high doses progesterone to stop the bleeding. Discuss with your doctor regarding this. Get your thyroid profile and prolactin levels and a ultrasound for your uterus and ovaries done to find out the cause of amenorrhoea. Hope it helps.
