What Causes Heavy Period With A Huge Clump Of Blood?

Hi my girlfriend has been having a heavier flow than normal, she says this happens sometimes. She was recently in the shower when she took out her tampon and a huge clump of blood came out. She said the top part of it was hard. She is unsure if this is a chemical pregnancy or just a huge blood clot caused by a heavy flow. She has an irregular period, if that helps.

Hi,

I have gone through the history you have mentioned. The possibility of either hormonal imbalance or infection or endometriosis is more likely in her case.

So better to consult gynecologist and get done a clinical examination, ultrasound examination of the lower abdomen (uterus and ovaries) and hormone levels.

She may need hormone pills to regulate hormones if it is endometriosis or hormonal imbalance. She may need antibiotics if it is an infection. Don't worry, she will be alright.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
