What Causes Heavy Periods While Suffering From PCOS?

I am a 36 yr. old female diagnosed with PCOS some 9 years ago. I have always had irregular menstral cycles unless I was on the pill. I have not been on any birth control for approx. 4 years.

My problem is this. I started my period 15 days ago. I had missed the month before, so I wasn't too worried when it lasted a little longer than 7 days, however, I am still bleeding. I have to change a super plus tampon every 3 hoours because it is saturated. I have been passing clots the size of a tablespoon. I have no pain or cramping, just some minor low back discomfort. I am trying to keep my iron intake up to avoid any anemia.

At what point should I really be worried about this? I am a little concerned but brush it off right now. Any suggestions?
