What Causes Heavy Prolonged Periods And Weakness?

I used to have non-stop periods and the only thing that stopped it was the implanon which I have been on for two and a half years now. I can be on for a few weeks then off for anything up to a year. In between periods however I find that I frequently get water infections or thrush. It seems to be every other week and I dont know why!
