What Causes Heavy Vaginal Bleeding And Nausea After An Endometrial Biopsy?
I had an endometrial biopsy last Wednesday. My doctor gave me no instructions, but said I would experience spotting. I m bleeding heavily instead and I m nauseous. I m going on five days and I m concerned because I had sex, and two days after the procedure--assuming I had started my period as it was due around the time of the procedure--used a tampon. I also maintained my usual exercise routine--running, spinning. Clearly, I should have been told not to have sex, exercise or use a tampon. I feel very off right now. Is this normal? I d call my doctor but with the holiday, the office is close. Thanks for your time.
Bleeding after an endometrial biopsy is a common complain. If you have polyp, fibroid or excessive growth of the endometrium bleeding can be heavy. Bleeding can continue for a week after biopsy. If you are feeling light headed you should be at rest & avoid heavy work.
Avoid strenuous exercise & heavy weight lifting. Take nutritious food & adequate sleep. Stay well hydrated.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
