Hello Tammy,
I can understand your concern. You can follow these rules to take a
pregnancy test: You can take a urine pregnancy test right before your expected period date or 2-3 weeks after unprotected sexual intercourse.
Blood test to confirm pregnancy can give results as soon as a week after unprotected sexual intercourse, which is also more sensitive than urine test. If these guidelines are followed while you took the pregnancy test and it came out negative, then you are not pregnant.
It is really hard to judge what amount of bleeding can be considered normal during normal menstrual cycles as every woman has different bleeding tendency. In addition, amount of
stress, body built, recent history of some illness, change in environment can bring chances in bleeding tendency and bleeding amount. If you have cycle longer than 7 days with heavy bleeding, then you should consult a gynecologist.
In addition, the first day of heavy continuous menstrual flow should be considered as your first day of
menstruation. Thus, what you are considering your third day of periods might just be the first day.
I hope this answer helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. Let me know if you have follow up questions.
