Hypermenorrhoea is genital bleeding longer than 7 days, specially if it causes anemia, is a sign of concern. I would have been great to know your age and if you had pelvic scans previously.

The most frequent causes are Uterine Myomas and Endometrial polyps. One might also consider Endometrial hyperplasia. Other systemic diseases and medication use are very rare.

I would suggest you ask for a pelvic scan (intracavitary) for proper diagnosis. Since Oral contraceptives failed to control bleeding, the most probable cause is organic and I would favor the presence of myomas, large or even small but directly affecting the endometrium.

Polyps usually don't bleed too much
