What Causes Heavy Vaginal Bleeding Post An Intercourse?

Today I got my period again after only two weeks. I had unprotected sex with a guy on the first day of my period which was two saturdays ago. Also, last Thursday I got an itch with faint bleeding and today I started heavily bleeding. However, there s no cramps. What s the problem here?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

What bleeding you are noticing following intercourse could be due to following two reasons:

1. Presence of uterine/cervical polyp.
2. Inflammation of the cervix - cervicitis.

Kindly get an ultrasound scan examination done and consult Gynecologist for clinical evaluation by means of per vaginal and per speculum examination, to know what could be the cause, so that it can be appropriately treated.

Hope the information provided would be helpful. Let me know if I can assist you further. All the best.

Regards,
Dr. Ashakiran S
