What Causes Heavy Vaginal Bleeding While Having Excessive Stress?

My wife has a very low hemoglobin count (she has always had problems with anemia). She also cant sleep at night and over the last couple of years gotten sick at night but lately is has gotten worse. She has loose bowel movements but she always had that. Her periods have been very heavy the last couple of years too but didn t have the period before her blood test. She is 50. Works a lot and had a lot of stress the past 2 years. Lately she decided to loose weight and has been hitting the tread mil a few times a week. The doctor scheduled an appointment in a couple of weeks after our vacation that starts tomorrow - he said there were some other worrisome things but wouldn t elaborate. I am pretty worried. Any ideas what the problem could be.
