What Causes Heavy Vaginal Bleeding While Inserting Tampon?
Last night I was putting a tampon in and felt the applicator scratch my vaginal wall but didn t think anything of it until I looked at my hand and there was a lot of blood. I quickly removed the tampon and blood was dripping rapidly out of my vagina and continued for about an hour. I knew it wasn t period blood because my flow is always very light, and seeing that much blood scared me. Should I go to the Gyno to avoid infection or will it be fine to just leave it and not use anymore tampons until my next period?
Hello, I have gone through the query and understood your concern. Your description of the course of events suggests that the applicator may have traumatized the vaginal walls and may have created a laceration that caused the bleeding. In this scenario, you nee to have an immediate local examination performed by a specialist to determine what should be done further. Also, you should not use any more tampons to avoid infection. Please maintain proper genital hygiene and get adequate rest. It is recommended that you use sanitary napkins for at least the next couple of menstrual periods. Hope this helps.
