General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Irregular menstrual cycles with intermittent heavy bleeding occurs in cases of PCOD along with enlarged ovaries, mainly due to imbalance between progesterone and estrogen in the body.
Also thyroid problem are also associated with such heavy bleeding. It might have caused due to use of copper-T, which might have caused pelvic inflammatory disease (PID).
Hence you need to get evaluated for the above by means of following investigations:
1. Thyroid profile - Free T3, Free T4 and TSH levels.
2. Hormones FSH, LH and Prolactin levels.
3. Ultrasound scan of abdomen and pelvis.
Since mere D & C procedure might not cure the problem, it would be better to consult Gynecologist along with the above investigation report, so that things could be managed appropriately.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
