What Causes Heavy Vaginal Bleeding With Blood Clots?

I had my period on the 15th of May, and when that finished a few days later I started bleeding again for a few more days. It s been about two weeks since I stopped bleeding and now I m bleeding heavily and losing small blood clots but I don t have any period pain? I m a little bit worried. And just want to know if there s anything I should be worried about? Help.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Heavy bleeding with blood clots is commonly due to hormonal imbalance, thyroid issues, peri menopausal phase, fibroid, endometriosis, etc. Sometimes, if you are in reproductive age and having unprotected sex, it may be indicative of miscarriage. Miscarriage is always associated with pain.

You are suggested to get clinically examined by a gynecologist, get per vaginal examination, blood tests, hormone tests, thyroid function tests and Imaging (X-ray, CT, MRI) tests done. You will be treated accordingly. Take food rich in calcium, iron and protein. Stay away from stressful lifestyle and anxiety. Do regular walking/ exercises, take adequate sleep.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
