What Causes Heavy Vaginal Clots During Menstruation?

Hello, I found out the other day from having to go to the ER after having a horrible fall off my porch that I had a cyst and it had ruptured. I have been having pains in my side for a year now and the doctors could never find out what it was. Well I went to a womens doctor today to have them check me out and even though i stated that i have been passing bloodclots the size of baseball this year (not every month but atleast every other month) she firmly told me that to my surprise that was normal and she wasnt considered and I should be either....but I am thats not normal to me I have never done this before my periods do come when expected beside maybe being a few days late or early and my second day on my period is always heavy but i am on it for maybe 4 days some i m off of it sooner. What should I do?? I am really worried cause I really believe this isn t something that some women deal with and just be fine

Hi and welcome to HCM

I'm Dr. Taimur and I will be addressing your health concerns.
I have read your question and understand your concern.

Heavy menstrual bleeding could be because of a number of reasons most of the time sorted according to age of patient but as you didn't mentioned your age so we are deficient on that side.
Another thing is that do you have used any oral birth control pills or intrauterine devices?
Have you done your ultrasound of pelvis and does it shows some cysts in both ovaries or not? or any fibroids in uterus or not?
after all the above information we may have some idea about your situation.
Meanwhile you should stay calm, there is nothing to worry about. Different women have different physiology and thus different menstrual bleeding habits. You should use iron and folate supplements for the blood you lose.

I hope this might be of some help, if you have any query feel free to ask me any time.
Thanks.
Dr. Taimur
