What Causes Heavy Vaginal Discharge During Menstruation?

my daughter started her period at 10 and 9 months shes 13 almost 14 now. on the first day of her period little if any blood comes out. on the second day its slightly heavier but only comes out if she pushes it out. on the third day same thing. on the night of the third her flow stops all the way until miday of the fourth day than she only sees blood when she wipes after using the bathroom, no real flow or anything. on the fifth day she might have a very light flow which stops miday and than her period ends.     Is this normal or should i have her see a doctor? does this represent a reproductive issue?
