What Causes Herniated Disc In Neck Along With Insomnia?

Since I ruptured a disk in my neck to the point that 18 months later the goo from my disk was flouting in my spinal fluid. I have not been able to sleep without lots of sleep meds....if I do take the meds I can go 1-3days without sleep. Could I have done something to my brain that interferes with my normal sleep pattern

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have herniated disc in neck along with insomnia . Well disk herniation is most often the result of a gradual, aging-related wear and tear called disk degeneration. Twisting and turning while lifting is also one of the major reason for this problem . I would suggest you to consult orthopedic surgeon for proper examination . Doctor may order CT scan ,MRI , myelogram , nerve conduction test along with physical examination . Doctor may prescribe percocet , gabapentin , muscle relaxant along with cortisone injection . Doctor may also recommend physical therapy and surgery in some severe cases. For now apply warm compresses and start physical therapy .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
