Hello and welcome,

Herpes simplex virus which causes genital herpes may stay in the body without exhibiting any symptoms for many years after a person gets infected.
The virus has two stages: the latent stage and the active stage (outbreak). In the latent stage the virus is hidden in the nerve ganglia and exhibit no symptoms. In the active stage the virus comes out and causes pain, itching, blistering etc.
During a sexual intercourse (2 years ago or before that) you probably got infected with the virus. After the initial infection (even without outbreak) the virus may stay dormant without exhibiting any symptoms. It may stay for decades without any symptoms. Certain factors may trigger outbreak such as stress, weakened immune system, hormonal dysbalance etc. But it is difficult to say when the outbreak happens.

I hope the above information will be helpful for you. Please, feel free to ask me if there is anything else you need to know.

Thank you,

dear user

i feel your querry and i would like to tell you that genital herpeal cavity then touching your genitalia cause you to get infected
you have may be because of another factor rather than sexual contact
althaugh sexual contact is the main method of transmission of genital herpes but genital herpes may caused by indirect contact method
as you may have hsv1 infection and then touching mucus membrane or oral cavity then touching your genitalia causing genital herpes
also you may touched another person who carry the virus thraugh hands or kissing then touches your genitalia that causes genital herpes
so sexual contact is not the only method of transmission but you should refer your doctor to confirm diagnosis clinically
you need not to get worry

wish you healthy life
