What Causes High BP And Slurred Speech In An Elderly Person?
my 89 year old mothers blood pressure is at 184/96 it was up to 198/110 we visited a and e yesterday and they did ecg and warfarin levels .all was good. been to tia clinic today and specialist doubted tia as she had had previous strokes .her speech has been struggling to get out for 10 min spells again and i m not sure what to do i ve called 111 at 5 15 to be told a doctor would call back within the hour 4 hours later still no call
I would recommend you to go to ER and have your mother have a check soon. TIA can be again the cause of her symptoms. She might need a very thorough neurological examination and CT scan also to rule out brain hemorrhage. If your mother has had TIA other times than she has high risk to develop them again and sometimes even real strokes (symptoms lasting for more than 24 hours). So please see a doctor as soon as possible.
Hope this answers to your question and is helpful to you.
