What Causes High BP Post Delivery?

Hi, I just had a baby July 29 of this year. After the delivery my blood pressure went up to 200/110 and I never in my life had high blood pressure. The doctor said it was because of the pregnancy, and she said it should eventually get back to normal. It's been 5 weeks and I am on medication lopressor 50mgs twice a day and a water pill. Will I ever get off these pills or will I be taking them forever?

Hello mam, thanks for trusting health care magic.
If even after 6 weeks of pregnancy the Blood Pressure is still on higher side then you might have to continue the medicines for a while and may be even longer.
It will be in your best interest that you keep a regular follow up with your doctor and continue taking medicines as prescribed.
In case you have further questions you can consult me on health care magic forum and i will be happy to help
