What Causes High Blood Count?

My doctor says my blood count is high 113 and is referring me to a hematologist. I am a 35 non pregnate, non overweight, never used drugs or alchol not even socialy ever in my life. I do smoke but have no health problems like COPD or high blood pressure due to it. I ve been tested every year for AIDS/HIV all STD/STI infections and had a annual pap every year for Cervical Cancer, Displasia, Breast Lumps, & vaginal internal exam for cysts PID ect. I ve also been tested for Hepatitus & I have had the Hep Vacinations. I had my tonsils removed 5yrs ago due to chronic sickness. And I have a low immune system and have had my whole life also I am a TB Test positive reactor but have never showed systems and had chest X rays every 2yrs. When I was born the doctors thought that I had cystic phybroscis or leukemia but I didnt. I did have scarlet fever at 5yrs old and have to be hospitalized. Also I don t take any medications of have any other health conditions to explained my high 113 blood count.

Hi,

It seems possible a case of 'myeloproliferative disorder'. Seek an opinion of a Pathologist / Hematologist or Medicine specialist since this condition is more in people living in high altitudes, and chronic smokers (present in your history]. Also, check with iron profile. [hematocrit, ferritin]. As the condition [of high blood count] predisposes to the blood clot, check with Coagulation Profile: INR (international normalized ratio), CT (clotting time), PT (prothrombin time), BT (bleeding time), PC (platelet count). Your Physician can also ask for Biopsy of the bone marrow to exclude any myeloproliferative syndrome. In the meantime, to alleviate your symptoms you can go for 'therapeutic phlebotomy' (if your symptoms are disease-specific), or you can choose cupping (bloodletting) only if other possibilities mentioned are excluded.
