What Causes High Blood Pressure After Reducing The Dosage Of Benicar?
Hi - I was recently diagnosed with Vertigo. - BUT I have been on blood pressure meds for years - I have very bad hypertension. Question is - The Heart Group decided to decrease my Benicar from 40mg to 20mg. Since the change, my blood pressure went from 110/78 to 140/78. I exercise frequently - Zumba, osteoball, water aerobics. Can this be the cause? I can t get this out of my mind that I woke up to get out of bed and this happened all of a sudden? I had a cat scan & EKG s, blood work, etc. All came back good. Help? I still feel dizzy. Ear drops of Cirprodex otic suspension 4 drops daily 2x a day since Monday.
General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
The blood pressure you refer to after stopping is not in range of high blood pressure. Please don't worry about it if few more readings remain persistent. Cause of dizziness could be refractory error or may be insufficient heart blood supply due to long standing high blood pressure. Can be verified by stress test. Please get yourself examined / investigated thoroughly.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
