What Causes High Blood Pressure And Dull Ache In Neck?

Been having a dull ache, almost like a stiff neck sort of feeling, in the area on the right frontish side of my neck - in the area where the major blood vessels are. Have had it pretty regularly for a week or so. My blood pressure was 152/102 when I measured it at home last night. Should I see a doctor?

Hi welcome to HCM.
High blood pressure in your case can be due to underlying atherosclerosis. This can be pretty evident in large blood vessels of neck like Carotid vessels. This can lead to stenotic blood vessels leading to turbulent flow and neck pain.Such changes can be promptly detected by arterial doppler of neck.Drugs like antiplatelets ex aspirin and antihypertensives like beta blockers like metoprolol will reduce the blood pressure.Semiannual 2 dimensional echocardiogram of heart can help to rule out organic heart lesions.Consult your cardiologist for further help.Thank you.
