What Causes High Blood Pressure Despite Taking Lisinopril?

My name is Liz I am 74 and my blood pressure has spiked to 160 over 95 I took 5 mg Lisinopril about half an hour ago, still high so I took the other half of a 10 mg. I have had this before. I have some InnoPranXl, 80 mg. that they gave me in the ER last time this happened. I also have 0.4mg nitrostat.

Hi,

Bp of 160/95 is not an emergency and we do not need to normalize it instantly. You should take your drug as prescribed and keep on checking your BP. Chek for 2 to 4 weeks if it was still high we may need to increase the dose or add another drug. There is an emergency here.
