What Causes High Blood Pressure While On Treatment For Rheumatoid Arthritis?

Hi, I am a female, 57 years of age and suffering from Rheumatoid Arthritis and consequently cirrhosis of the liver from taking Methotrexate to treat the RA.I went to the emergency room last week after presenting with numbness on the right side of my body and my blood pressure has been high ever since.I am waiting to see neurologist on Monday at a secondary stroke clinic however nothing showed on my CT scan or cartid artery ultrasound. Could this just be from high blood pressure giving my other chronic illnesses?Sincerely, Laura

Hello,

Considering your current medical condition high BP can persist. I'll recommend you to get an Echocardiography to check heart functions as in liver cirrhosis you might have cardiac dysfunction, an USG to rule out Portal Hypertension and a HOLTER (ambulatory ECG) to see any cardiac arrhythmia . Consult back with reports.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
