What Causes High Blood Sugar Levels After Taking Novacain?
I had a tooth pulled and two fillings today not feeling great and also have diabetes 2. They had to keep giving me novacain I checked my blood 1 he ago and it was 279 and did it a few minutes ago and it was 242 is it the moccasins? I have never hit that high before. What s going on?
Hello there, I understand your concerns about the rising blood glucose levels. Many times during tooth infection or severe pain blood sugars can rise to levels as mentioned by you. The novocain is to relieve you of the pain and that is not the reason why your sugar levels are on the rise. Usually in a day or two your sugar levels may come down to levels like before. However try to be careful with what you eat for the next few days and be well hydrated with lots of water. If blood sugars do not settle in 2-3 days then please do visit your diabetologist who may increase your doses of medicines for a few days to weeks to regain the lost control. Do not worry stress and pain can worsen sugars so let this phase pass. Hope this helps. Take care.
