What Causes High Blood Sugar Levels During Pregnancy?

I am 32 weeks pregnant for the 2nd time. Even in the first pregnancy in the last stage I was detected with gestational diabetics. This time I am in complete diet avoiding all sweet items- eating whole grain foods, lentils etc and also doing exercising- walking for atleast half an hour after meals- taking 3 big & 3 small meals- still the ppbs reading is around 130-150. Why does it not come down? what are the effects it will have on the baby?

OBGYN 's  Response
Gestational diabetes alone will not have any major effect as long as sugars r kept under control .
u need a fair control. ...better to meet an endocrinologist who may start u on low dose insulin if ur ppbs are consistently b/n 130-150mg%.
uncontrolled sugars may lead to a big baby, excess liquor, hypertension etc.
dont worry....speak to ur obgyn and endocrinologist
