What Causes High Blood Sugar?

Hello, my blood sugar was 234 earlier today, before eating. However, I ate a small amount of chocolate candies and half a peanut butter sandwich before sleeping. Was diagnosed type 2 a little over a week ago. Just wondering why blood sugar was that high? Btw, I ve been very good with my diet, mainly eating salads and good protein, trying to limit sugars!.

Hi
Fasting blood glucose is quite high, which needs to be controlled with medications. Diabetes is a metabolic disorder where in blood glucose levels are higher than normal. Causes are multifactorial - genetic, environmental, obedity, depends on lifestyle. Type 2 diabetes has normal insulin levels but there is resistance to utilize that cellular level, so you need to make lifestyle modifications along with medicines to have a good control of diabetes.
Regards.
