What Causes High Cholesterol Despite Taking Simvastatin And Lisinopril?
hi, I just got results from my blood test and my cholesterol is very high the doctor recommended simvastatin, i also take lisinopril and medformin. I like to eat grapefruit, a friend suggested to drink a glass of red wine, this will help with the cholesterol, but with so much going on, I'm very confused, please advise thanks Anita
** Thanks for contacting HCM with your health concern
1. Since you are also taking anti diabetic medication so make sure to keep you sugar level under normal range since abnormal blood sugar is also a contributory factor for dyslipidemia.
2. Do not take grapefruit if you are taking simvastatin [universal precaution] 3. Lisnopril has neutral effect or very little [if any] on cholesterol so can be taken safely.
