What Causes High Fever Along With Body Tremors And Chills In A Child?

my son is burning up, I ve taken him many baths to try to lower it. He hasnt been eating much all day, he begs for the room light to be turned off and he s shaking and says he s cold. He also has a little bit of saliva coming out of the corner of his mouth, with what seems like foam, while he is asleep. what is the problem?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It could be a febrile illness. Consult a pediatrician and get evaluated. Drugs like paracetamol must be given to reduce body temperature. Tepid sponging can also bring down the core body temperature. High temperature can lead to seizures and that must be avoided.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
