What Causes High Fever Along With Chest Congestion And Cough?

My 3 year old son spiked a fever 101.6-102 last Sunday. It stayed steady but did not rise for a few days. Congestion, coughing, very low energy until yesterday when he began to perk up, cough getting better, more energy, normal temp. Just now he woke up from a 2 hour nap feeling clammy but cooler to touch, he had definitely been sweating, he fell immediately back to sleep. I don t have access to an accurate thermometer at this moment. Do I get one first, take him to urgent care or observe until tomorrow?

Hello,

As per your query you have symptoms of high fever along with chest congestion and cough which is due to viral pharyngitis and weekend immunity of child.

I would suggest you give child hot milk along with a pinch of turmeric. Keep giving warm water sip by sip. Visit general physician once and get it examined if symptoms keep on persisting. You should get blood tests done and start treatment once a proper diagnosis is ruled out. You should give a combination of antibiotics along with anti-inflammatory medication after proper prescription. You should give mild steam inhalation along with vaporizer.
