What Causes High Fever Along With Rashes All Over The Body?

My son is 15 yrs old ... He has had flu like symptoms since last wednesday . fever reached 103. with all over body rash... Fever broke this past saturday but he is still very weak , has a constant dry cough , complaining of pain in chest when he coughs . Took him to urgent care last friday ( so its been 6 days ) they said it was viral and to stay hydrated and wait it out. He is drinking and peeing ... not dehydrated . Could he have Mono ? should i return to the Urgent care tonight .? He is also experiencing flashes of hot and then cold.. stated he is full of sweat every time he wakes up from sleeping

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query your son is having symptoms of high fever along with rashes all over the body which seems to be due to viral infection, allergic reaction and due to underlying systemic pathology. Need not to worry. You should maintain complete hygiene. You should take anti-allergic medication along with proper course of antiviral medication. Avoid intake of outside food. You should do tepid sponging to lower down fever. I would suggest you to visit pediatrician once and get it examined. You should get blood tests redone and start treatment after proper diagnosis. Take diet rich in fresh juices and fruits. Drink plenty of water and fluids.
