Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes High Fever Along With Shortness Of Breath And Dizziness?
My son is in stage 4 metatastic melanoma and was prescribed Mekinist 2 mgs. twice a day and taflinlar twice a day. Samples. When his prescription assistance was approved and the drugs came in the mail, the dosage for mekinist was 2 mgs. once a day and taflinar once a day. He is now taking the medication once a day for both. However, he, for the past couple of days has had a fever pushing 103. It has broken, but he still has a slight fever. He has had shortness of breath and dizziness. Now he has developed a wicked rash on his leg. He had groin tumor removal. I told him to take Benadryl. He also has severe bipolar, which is under control with numerous medications. I guess the best thing to do is call the cancer center in the morning. I am concerned that they overdosed him the first time. Any suggestions?
It seems that your son is so fortunate to have you providing his care at home. The primary concern now with fever, shortness of breath, and dizziness is he could possibly have a lung infection.
I am sorry to say, but he is very sick. He must be taken to the hospital as soon as possible.
Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Arnold Zedd, MD,
