What Causes High Fever Along With Swollen Lymph Nodes In A Child?

My son is 11 years old - we took him to the ER on Sunday since he was running a fever and it was climbing to 103.1+ and he was having strong head pain. They did blood work and an xray and determined he had pneumonia, however, he was and still not coughing or having any nasal discharge. They started him on 2 ivs of antibiotics. We have been giving him oral antibiotics since Monday. He has swollen glands around his neck and is still really sore in his neck and is having headaches and sore throat off and on, some red spots on the soles of his feet and a few on his hands, very little appetite. Any ideas?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

It could be an upper respiratory tract infection. Consult a pediatrician and start antibiotics. Nothing much to worry as it will respond well to antibiotics.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
