What Causes High Fever And Extreme Body Chills In A Person Suffering From Leukemia?

I am a Hospice Nurse. Visiting a patient today who has AMYL Leukemia, he talks of his high fevers at times, extreme chills, and drenching nite sweats which I know accompany this. Trying to find some good comfort measures to help with a good nights rest. He sometimes takes a 325MG of Tylenol before bedtime and has helped. vickigcrook@ yahoo.com . Thank you.

Acute leukaemia itself can cause high fever but any serious infection including a bacteraemia should be rapidly ruled out.
