What Causes High Fever And Itching In Eyes Of An Infant Post Vaccination?

My son is 4 months old. He s got his shots this past Tuesday and he s been running a fever until today. Yesterday and today it went up as high as 101 and he s been itching his eyes as well. I give him Tylenol when the fever bothers him. Anything else I can do?

HI,
I understand your concern
- The symptoms you describe are definitely due to-
- irritation/ inflammation at prick point causing fever.
-allergy to the vaccine.
- You have already started with tylenol which is anti allergic & pain/ fever reliving.. Actually baby should be alright with that, but fever is not responding- indicative of infection at the sight of infection/ exaserbation of previous infection in form of cough, cold.
I would advise you to take the baby to pediatrician .After examination & few investigations if doctor feels to be necessary- he may be given a course of antibiotics, anti inflammatory &anti fever agent( ibuprofen- paracetamol ) along with cetrizine drops to control allergic itching & eye drops if needful.
B complex supplements/ thrombophobe ointment helps if there is inflammation at sight of prick.

thanks.
