What Causes High Fever And Nose Bleed Despite Giving Motrin And Tylenol?

Hi my daughter has had s cough and fever for 2 days. Today her fever got up to 104.5. She has a recent history of strep throat so I took her to the ER. Strep test was negative. I had given her Motrin at 145, the doctor gave her a Tylenol suppository at 315. We are now home had she has a 101 fever and I just noticed she has a slight bloody nose. Should I be worried? The ER doc ruled it a virus.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it is true that the symptoms of fever and cough can be most probably be due to viral infection that can be Influenze that is commonly known as Flu..
As viral infection is not cured by anti viral medications and will get resolved once the virus completes its cycle therefore only symptomatic treatment to relieve fever and cough can help..
As she has a slightly bloody nose it can be due to nasal dryness caused due to dehydration that is commonly seen during fever..
It can be also be due to irritation of nasal lining due to infection..
Nothing to worry, continue giving her tylenol for fever and also cough suppressant syrups..
You can also give her steam inhalations, saline nasal irrigation and use a humidifier in your room..In case if nose bleeds ask her to gently pinch her nostrils and bend slightly forwards and breathe through mouth..
Follow it for about ten minutes and bleeding will cease..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
