What Causes High Fever And Throat Pain In A Child?
2 year old temperature 101-103 oral farenight last 3 days today fussy, and will not eat height and weight normal for 2 year old, skin is hot and dry tympanic membranes slightly red throat is erythematous 4+ tonsils and diffuse exudates. Anterior cervical nodes easily palpable and clearly tender to touch on the left side throat hurts a lot per child Vital signs temperature 102.8oF pulse 128, respiratory rate of 24 beats a minute. What is a possible diagnosis
Possible causes of a sore throat and other signs that you mentioned in a two-year-old include infectious pharyngitis due to a virus or due to group A streptococcus. With a fever and not eating well, I would also consider the possibility of an abscess developing in the throat. I would recommend that you bring him in to be evaluated by a doctor, and be checked for strep throat. If he does have strep throat or an abscess he will need antibiotics.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Aaron Branch,
