What Causes High Fever In Children Post Extraction Of Tooth?

My daughter, three years old, had her front two teeth extracted four days ago. I notice her feeling really hot alittle while ago and her temp is 103.0(arm pit 102.0 then I added a degree) is this normal? I gave her a Tylenol suppository because she refuses to takes by mouth meds and she seems to have cooled down some. But what if this fever comes back?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your question and can very well understand your concern..

As per your complain fever after extractions can occur in condition if the tooth that are extracted were infected and the bacteria goes into the blood circulation while extraction causing bacteremia and Septicemia..
The toxins released by bacteria can cause temperature rise in the body..

You should consult a Paediatician and get her evaluated..
He/she can advise her a blood test to confirm the cause..
She can be advised antibiotics like Amoxicillin syrup along with Tylenol as the antibiotics will kill harmful bacteria and this fever will not occur again..
You can do cold sponges over her body and forehead as it will help in reducing body temperature..
Feed her with a light diet and give her sufficient rest..
Give ample of fluids to prevent dehydration..

Don't worry she will get well soon..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards..
