What Causes High Fever, Vomiting, Ear Pain, Blocked Nose And Throat Pain?
On Wednesday, the doctor said my daughter has the flu and had fluid on her ears. It s now Friday and she is still running a high fever, throwing up, ear hurting, nasal passage blocked and can t blow her nose, won t drink or eat because she said it hurts her throat, and her lips are scaly and looked bruised. Should I be concerned?
The most probable causes for her symptoms are the following: * Painful swallowing indicates pharyngitis * Fever indicates secondary bacterial infection * Blocked nose is due to severe rhinitis * The fluid and infection goes from nose to the middle ear through Eustachian tubes and thus the symptoms * Hence she needs additional antibiotics, anti-inflammatory and decongestants as per the advise of her doctor * Bed rest helps early recovery * Plenty of fluids orally, a PPI like Omeprazole * Liquid Povidone Iodine gargles * Xylometazoline nasal drops * Complete the courses till complete recovery
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
