What Causes High Fever While On Acetaminophen With Codeine And Nausea Pills?

My 18 year old daughter has had a high fever on an off for 3 days. We went to the Doc In a Box this morning and they gave us prescription for acidimnophine with codine, nausea pills (every 8 hours). She has only had crackers and water and jello and cannot keep anything down. Her temp is now at 104 (under the arm) and I have been putting cold compresses on her forehead, neck, wrists and behind her knees. What do I need to do. She has also had two tepid baths.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I think she needs to run a few diagnostic tests including complete blood count, urine analysis, full biochemistry panel to determine the right diagnosis. Sometimes urinary tract infections or even pneumonia (basal part of the lung) are associated with fever and nausea or vomiting as in case of your daughter.

Discuss this with her caring doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini,
