What Causes High Fever With Extreme Shivering And Fatigue?

I had a fever between 103-104 almost 3 days ago,I shook so hard It hurt my chest, back and calf muscles,I went to bed and had my grandson place several quilts on top of me,I was out of Tylenol .i better today,my fever came down by 3am,but I wasn t able to get out of bed for 2 days except to the bathroom,today I have been up in a chair,just feel weak if I get up for to long.i had a endoscopy and colonoscopy,because I had seen some blood and was concern because I had an esophageal bleed a yr ago.i was just wondering what could cause that to come on so sudden.Thank you

Hello,

High fever, fatigue with extreme shivering are the symptoms which can be observed in different illnesses which include infection due to some parasite, microorganism. You said the endoscopy and colonoscopy results are yet to come but currently managing these symptoms is important.

Fever that high and such symptoms are indicative of viral origin usually. I would suggest you to go to ER or your doctor and also get your blood work done for presence of dengue, typhoid fever and malaria. Even though there are no other symptoms apart from fever present currently, regular blood workup is necessary and your doctor will advice all the necessary diagnostic tests and once the results come depending on the underlying cause, he will guide you on further management.

For the fever, make sure you take an appropriate dose of antipyretic medicines like paracetamol on time to avoid further difficulties.
