What Causes Hip And Back Pain, Severe Chest Pain And Breathing Difficulty With Nodule In The Lung?

Hello, To make a long story short, my husband was seen by the family dr. who sent him to ER. He is in constant pain from his hips to his neck, episodes of severe chest and back pain, difficultly breathing because he can t take a deep breath. While in the ER they ruled out blood clots in the lung, and it s not his heart. A CT scan showed a nodule in his left lower lung, one of the same areas he is experiencing pain. Blood works good, except for a high RA and high sed rate. Any thoughts on what can be wrong or where to turn for help? I am very worried about him.

Pulmonologist 's  Response
Hello dear, thanks for your question on HCM.
I can understand your situation and problem.
There are two possibilities in his case
1. Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) associated symptoms.
2. Lung cancer and bone metastases.
Nodule in the lung with positive RA factor points towards Rheumatoid disease.
RA can cause hip and back pain. It can cause nodules in lung and chest pain and breathing difficulty.
Same way lung nodule can be due to malignancy and back, hip pain due to bone metastases.
So better to consult pulmonologist and discuss all these and start appropriate treatment after diagnosis.
