What Causes Hissing Sound In Ear?
Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here... I was in Cuzco, Peru for 2 nites and left because of the altitude after receiving treatment at a clinic.. My blood pressure went to 160/100 and my blood oxygen was 82. I have seen my doctor for the blood pressure and an ear doctor because I have a hissing in my right ear. The ear doctor prescribed Prednisone 20 mb. 2x a day for 5 day. I have another appointment next week, but the hissing has not stopped. What questions should I ask upon my return visit?

Hi,
Noted your history well, understood the concerns and want to know the question to be asked to the Doctor about hissing sound in right ear in spite of Prednisone 20 mg twice daily and blood pressure that went to 160/100.
How much is the blood pressure and pulse rate now? Improved and whether needs cardiac check up and additional treatment for the hypertension if it is persisting.
Endoscopic findings for ears, nose and throat, preferably by an ENT Surgeon to find out the cause of hissing sound in right ear whether due to upper respiratory tract infection that has traversed to the middle ear through Eustachian tube.
Additional tests of blood, Audiometry and so on as are needed.
Additional treatment needed.
Ask all these questions.
Additional care like not to blow nose, any special diet advise and so on, to see if the oxygen saturation improved or not and if not then further investigations and management as per the findings.
