I ve been getting hives now for almost 2 months. It appears usually around my inner thighs, and armpits. Also sometimes on my wrists and ankles. It causes itching and usually goes away in a few hours. What could be the cause of this and what steps should I take to stop this?

Hi,

You seem to have urticaria. There may be some cause. There are many types of urticaria..physical,cholinergic,pressure,diet induced,idiopathic..etc

In some cases, no cause is found. That may be called chronic idiopathic urticaria.
You consult dermatologist for firm diagnosis and treatment. Blood investigations may be done to reach to some conclusion.

Fexofenadine, desloratidine or levocetirizine may be taken for long time. Steroids in tappering doses may be taken. Have patience. You might improve after few week treatment.

Thanks.
