What Causes Hives?

hello not sure if I m really talking to anyone but I m trying to figure out why my son and daughter and my sons friends all got hives. They all went to the doctor and got told they gdot hives and put on meds for it. Now I have it. The only thing I can think why we all have it is from sitting and sleeping on my couches. Is that possible??

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Hives are usually in response to a particular agent whether physical (eg insect bite, trauma, heat, cold, water ) or chemical (food, drink, soaps etc).

If you used the same furniture, then checking of dust mites or bed bugs would be helpful towards determining the cause.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Michelle Gibson James, General & Family Physician
