What Causes Hoarseness In The Voice And Sore Throat?
Started with what I thought was allergies, on the 14th, lost my voice completely that night, partial voice on the 15th, but I am still hoarse, no longer have a cough or drainage and my throat is still sour and scratchy. It is going on 3 weeks? Never had a fever and other than the throat all is fine.
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. The symptoms what you have been describing appears that you have had upper respiratory tract infection. Although infection gets cured, some of the symptoms takes a little longer time to be back to normal. Kindly do the following to overcome them. 1. Do salt water gargling with warm water thrice a day. 2. Use steam inhalation to liquefy the mucous for easy drainage. 3. Take mucolytic-decongestant medications in the form of syrup containing Ambroxyl/Bromhexine, Guaifenesin and Chlorpheniramine maleate as ingredients. 4. Take medicated lozenges for throat soothening effect when necessary. Strictly avoid consumption of cold items like cold drinks and ice cream.
